When I started off building websites about eight years ago it was all hand written, with home site web creator. I guess I enjoyed playing around with effects, dynamic scripts and the like…
Essentially, a few years later I had come to realize that it is not about nifty intros, flashy animations, but about quality content. That’s where the beauty of blogs is. Once your template is up and running you can fully focus on posting interesting articles.

Whats important to me / what would I like? Spell checker and text prediction (as in open office), i.e. things that speed up the actual writing process.

I will go along with babykati, easier image formating would be very cool. I have tried building a blog from scratch because of wanting to be able control images with more ease but only ended up in severe frustration melt down! Any advice is always welcome.

For some reason I stay away from blog software. I put my content together classicaly with a word processor and the build a website around it, manually. I’ve been doing it for years, I suppose because I never got around to install a new blog software package, customize it and get it running, since experience tells me these things take a while.
Maybe I’m wrong… I guess I should give it a go in my next vacation.

Easy image formating would be nice, i.e. float and position attributes via drag and drop. That would save a little time each time.

Same here, I usually write content in Word, not so much for its spell checker, rather because it is the easiest way of re-editing the text before it goes online. Personally I feel when you draft a piece of text, there should be at least one day before you sit down again, edit it and then publish is in its final version.
Sure, Wordpress lets you save drafts, however, a word processor is more convinient.

I’m working on building a blog from scratch using CF, CSS, XHTML and XStandard as the WYSIWYG. Unlike you, I prefer to work on the blog itself instead of the content. Who knows, maybe I don’t have anything worth saying.

Kevin, all good points. I usually put mine together and dreamweaver then copy the source over to my publish window. My system is home grown but there isn’t a simple way to publish my content without using multiple steps.
