Hands-On AIR with HTML/JavaScript at MAX

Par for the course this year, Adobe MAX 2007 has some pre-event sessions, which includes a number of day-long hands-on sessions. For a while there was only one session for AIR, and that was for the Flex developer. After talking with Ted Patrick and other MAX organizers, I was able to arrange a similar session, but for the HTML and JavaScript developers!

You can read the description on the MAX web site, but in the interest of repetition (smile):

Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR): Building Desktop Applications with HTML, CSS and JavaScript

This full-day course will include everything you need to get started building applications with AIR. We’ll cover techniques that will allow HTML/JavaScript developers to create rich applications for deployment on the desktop. Learn how to interact with the windowing API and file system, drag and drop to the desktop, handle data persistence, and more. Learn more about the dynamic cross-scripting between Flash and HTML within AIR. We’ll also discuss how to easily package and distribute AIR applications.

I’ve been given a fifty (50) seat space, complete with teacher assistants (TA’s), but the class is only 10% filled. This new session was only just added last week, so you may have missed it. If you’re an HTML/JavaScript developer and you want to get up close and personal with AIR, then this is an ideal session for you to attend. And because it’s a pre-event session, you won’t have to sacrifice any other sessions.

If you’re worried about cost, you might want to take note that Ted Patrick just arranged a discount code.

As part of my MAX presenter duties, I put together a first-pass outline just the other day. I’ll also be presenting an AIR API overview session during MAX. It’s a vast amount of content however, and if you really want to get to know the API’s then I’d suggest signing up for this newly added hands-on pre-event session. I look forward to seeing you there!
